Views lie. Paste a YouTube handle and see that channel's 10 biggest hits side by side with its 10 weakest — scored against its own average, not anyone else's.
We take the channel's recent Shorts, find the median view count, and divide. A big channel gets big numbers on a bad day, so the only honest comparison is a creator against themselves.
Each video in the sample is measured against the median of the others, so one runaway hit cannot quietly raise the bar it is being judged against.
The gap between the top and bottom rows is the idea, not the algorithm.
